Oil and Cotton x : Hikaru Dorodango in the Garden
Sunday, September 27 10 am - 1 pm
Instructor: Kenley Turner
Location: If weather is permitting we will meet at Twelve Hills Nature Center ; If weather is inclement we will host the workshop at Oil and Cotton 2313 Beatrice St. #100 Dallas, TX 75208
Join us in the beautiful neighborhood nature preserve, for a step by step how to make a dorodango. What is hikaru dorodango? It's the Japanese art form of polishing a mud ball into a perfect sphere. Use this time to build community and appreciate nature together. Continue this practice to use soil from memorable places in your life and create keep sakes for them. This is a mindful, kinesthetic, sensory experience meant to put you into the "flow state" of making.
"This process is simple, but seems like alchemy" - Bruce Gardener
All materials are provided, along with cookies and tea. Please bring a water and sun protection
*If weather is permitting and we meet at the nature preserve, we will be sitting on picnic blankets. Students may want to bring an outdoor folding chair if ground sitting is anticipated to be uncomfortable.
